Quechup = spam! Do not join!

Ok, so words can’t describe how annoyed I am that I signed up to Quechup (I refuse to link to them as it may help with their search rankings) and that I believe they spammed my entire gmail address book.  Gmail automatically saves contacts that users have had communication with – this meant I had over 500 contact emails stored and probably spammed.

To make things worse – I found out yesterday morning and was in a rush to get out to go to a conference.  In my haste I sent out an email to my contacts cc’ing them instead of bcc’ing them.  Aarrggh!  I do apologise for my incompetence!

ROSIE IS NOT HAPPY.

A Google search shows that I am not the only one who knows of (or has experienced) this.

Please stay away from Quechup.

Don’t worry about it. It could have happened to any of us. You did your best to make things right and mistakes happen. No harm, no foul. :-)

We all have days like that. I recently accidentally load-tested a production system because I forgot to check that pesky IP setting. When my log files on the test system remained empty, did I check the IP? No, I increased the load and tried again. Twice. Sheepishly I sidled up to the sys admin: “Prod still ticking along?” “Why do you ask?” “uhhhh… no reason…” We got a big laugh out of it in the end, and he was pleased that his prod system took a potentially crippling hit and didn’t miss a beat.
