Eco friendly search engine

How can a search engine be eco friendly?

According to Blackle, a Google Custom Search, their search site is *more* eco friendly because the screen is predominantly black, which in turn saves energy.

Nice thoughtful idea, but it hasn’t convinced me enough.  Some people like black with white/light text, but for me it just hurts my eyes.  I’d rather switch my laptop off a minute earlier…goodnight.

a truely eco friendly search engine is http://www.yamoogle.com
It donates all the revenue it earns from displaying the sponsored links to carbon offsetting and if the average person uses it as their search engine they should be carbon positive over a year long period
